What is meant by "humanities" and what is meant by "social sciences"?

answers1: some say that Christianity is the two the superb component
in historic past or the main important hoax in historic past. yet
Feminist concept is a lot previous Christianity, in this appreciate.
we are instructed that we purely act a undeniable way with the aid of
fact we are taught that way, as destructive to any organic and organic
changes, with the aid of fact the commencing up of guy. Whoa!!!!! Now
that concept reaches and breaches the signifance of the different
concept or theology that has ever existed! (of course, no longer each
and every person take the assumption to the severe of each and every
little thing being oftentimes socially built). The Masculists
indoctrine the comparable concept, that's the place I disagree. I
advise, once you're in basic terms saying that we are a made from our
ecosystem, nicely yeah.... that is already been lined in Psychology.
So, that is why I equate this with people who word the severe kind to
this concept.

What benefits do the BA in studio art have over the MA in studio art?

answers1: You can teach art at colleges and so forth with a masters.
Can't with a bachelors.
answers2: I would hope that the training was more specific and intense
at the Master's level and that the Master's thesis show would be taken
more seriously than any Bachelor's student show. I would also expect,
in the USA, that an MFA and a BFA would be taken more seriously and be
offered at more serious schools in creative arts. An MA in art would
more likely require a written thesis as in Art History, Art
Curatorial, or Art Marketing.

Do you think art can be called art even if its 'commercial' art?

answers1: This begs the question: Why is it that you can be so
concerned about the symantic use of the word, "art," and it's
definition, and totally ignore that the term, "commercial art" already
has it's own definition.

What you are demonstrating is a kind of elitist attitude toward,
so-called "commercial" art, as if it had less esthetic value that what
the industry refers to as "fine art," which, itself, is elitist.

And you can't really deny your stance, demonstrated by the very use of
phrases like, "as much art, and "more art-sy.

But to take that point even farther, I have to point out that many of
those classic "artistic" images, such as portraits, sculptures, even
land and city scapes were "commissioned" pieces, made to order by
patrons who paid the artists to create art on demand. This sounds no
different than the illustrations I create for packaging, newspaper ads
or store signs.

To accept your argument, I would have to work as a kind of "split
personality," with the work done for a client being one kind of
"commercial" art and the work I do for myself, and THEN sell to a
client as more "art-sy." Is the quality of one kind any better than
the quality of the other?

maybe the music

which is your hobby?
answers2: Maybe music or painting or dancing ....You can try to find
which one you are good at to
answers3: Music is a form of fine art. For example, piano, guitar,
violin, and my personal favorite, the flute, are all musical
instruments (duh) and are considered to be in the fine arts program.
I've been playing the flute for 5 years and I'm considered to be a
musical artist. But anyone who plays an instrument even semi-well is
considered a musical artist.
Art also includes other types of visual arts, not just painting. It
can be doodling, sculpting, or anything else you can think of.
What can I do with a minor in visual art?

answers1: First of all, you're a freshman WHO (that is for things,
who is for people)
Seems to me like you could get into medical illustration if you follow
through with both subjects.
answers2: Firstly let me say I did my degree and Post graduate MA in
fine art and my pHd rgesis focussed around spatial concerns relative
to fine art and visual impact of "open space" curatorial setting.

Only doing a minor in fine art may not provide you with everything you
hope to draw from the subject particularly as you wish to combine it
with such a diverse major topic. Ask yourself how could Fine art
interact and merge with Pre medical Clinical Laboratory Science
studies, there may be a way (publishing or illustrating medical
proceedure) and you are obviously drawn to these two vastly diverse
areas but I would certainly go back to question your intent a little
more thoroughly before make such commitment following a subject area
like fine art.

Incidentally Illustration is not classed as a Fine art subject area
although Printmaking, Painting, Sculpture and Video are, Illustration
is an applied art subject area, just thought I'd say because it makes
a difference regarding which area of tuition you will recieve.

I suspect it may be a case of making some hard choices and droping one
of these study areas.

answers4: some times
answers5: i'm 40-one, and 'heck no' - i do no longer act my age!
what's age? Shoot... have relaxing with existence, I say! i'm advised
I 'act like a new child' - which will on occasion be an insult, yet,
different situations, its from a extremely good pal, who says "i
admire the way you act like a new child so regularly, being loopy and
stuff." So, I take excitement in it. super question tho - because of
the fact, quite - what's age? I advise, how is a 40 year previous
'meant' to act? I haven't any thought. i think of its all
approximately human beings's personalities, too. i comprehend human
beings over age 70 and that they 'act like they're 40' - relaxing,
stupid, large human beings. Then, i comprehend people who're age 70,
and that they act like 'they're so previous', so, i think of it comes
all the way down to character and how you locate existence. :)

Sometimes my maturity is more than my parents. So, sometimes, but I'm
not scolding or rude, just wise.

What ACT does the percentage convert to?

answers1: The Percentage that they give you isn't the percent that you
got correct, it is your Percentile (the percentage of other test
writers who scored at or below your score). An 86.325 means that you
scored higher than 86.325% of other students who took the ACT exam
An 85% or 85th Percentile is equal to a 26 ACT cumulative score
An 88% or 88th Percentile is equal to a 27 ACT cumulative score
What were the differences between the Declaratory Act and Townshed Act?

answers1: The difference between the SAT and the ACT is that the ACT
has a science section, whereas the SAT does not. The ACT is divided
into five sections, including the essay. The sections are English (75
questions), Math (about 65 questions), Critical Reading (45
questions), and Science (ab out 45 questions). The SAT is divided into
11 jumbled, but much shorter sections. Also on the ACT the essay is
the last section, but on the SAT it is the first. The writing portion,
the essay, is optional on the ACT, but I would suggest taking the ACT
plus writing, as you would be more eligible for most schools. The ACT,
I felt, was more difficult than the SAT, but I took a prep class for
the SAT to make sure I was prepared. As far as preference for the top
25 colleges, I am not sure which accept which test. I know that in
California, the UC's take either, without preference. The same is true
with the state schools. I am not sure about Privates or Ivy leagues,
though. Sorry. Hope this helps!
answers2: The Townshend Acts were a series of acts passed beginning in
1767 by the Parliament of Great Britain relating to the British
colonies in North America. The acts are named after Charles Townshend,
the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who proposed the program. Historians
vary slightly in which acts they include under the heading "Townshend
Acts", but five laws are frequently mentioned: the Revenue Act of
1767, the Indemnity Act, the Commissioners of Customs Act, the Vice
Admiralty Court Act, and the New York Restraining Act.The purpose of
the Townshend Acts was to raise revenue in the colonies to pay the
salaries of governors and judges so that they would be independent of
colonial rule, to create a more effective means of enforcing
compliance with trade regulations and to punish the province of New
York for failing to comply with the 1765 Quartering Act, and to
establish the precedent that the British Parliament had the right to
tax the colonies. The Townshend Acts were met with resistance in the
colonies, prompting the occupation of Boston by British troops in
1768, which eventually resulted in the Boston Massacre of 1770.

The American Colonies Act 1766 commonly known as the Declaratory Act,
was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain, which accompanied the
repeal of the Stamp Act 1765. Parliament repealed the Stamp Act
because boycotts were hurting British trade and used the declaration
to justify the repeal and save face. The declaration stated that
Parliament's authority was the same in America as in Britain and
asserted Parliament's authority to pass laws that were binding on the
American colonies.
Is rap poetry or music?

answers1: Depends on who you ask and which rap song your talking
about. I'd say artists like Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane are precisely 0%
poetry, while Immortal Technique usually has the "worst" beats. Rap is
considered music because, while some rap music is hard to perform,
most of it, until now, has been made up of music.

logically, where m=music and r = rhythm
(m-r)+r=m

ALSO: some producers and DJs actually know and apply music theory.
for a poet rap is a poem
for a musician rap is a music
poetic ... as we've all heard for ourselves.

However some rappers/rap songs are very poetic. You know theyre well
written when you can just read the lyrics and enjoy it .. without even
having to hear the song.
answers5: its both.. the words are poetry if you have a half decent
rapper. But its music so it has to be music as well
answers6: i think it depends who it's coming from

if Soulja Boy or Hurricane Chris comes out with a single, it's just a
poor excuse for music [which sucks!.. What the **** is Ay Bay Bay or
that Kiss Me thru The Phone ****?]

Poetry is like rappers who get their lyrics from stuff that happens in
their life [The Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy]
answers7: There is no right or wrong answer to this question...it is
how the person interprets it. I feel that it is both music and poetry.
answers8: Rap is both.....to be a rapper you have to write
consistently and practice your rhymes
answers9: it is poetry put to a beat so its both and it crosses genres
answers10: Every form of music, including rap, is poetry set to a
beat. So it's both music and poetry.

Would anyone object to philosophy being taught in schools?

answers1: In Australia, Philosophy is already a subject that you can
choose in your senior years, but we call it Studies of Religion. I
don't do it, but one of my Christian friends does it, and she says
that the subject is very informative and she's learnt a lot about
other religions. So, i think it's a good subject to teach/learn about.
answers2: Philosophy is sometimes worked into RE (Religious Education)
here in the UK. But a seperate class called that instead of RE would
be much better. I don't want to have beliefs forced on to me by
teachers, as was done in the past. But teaching kids to make up their
own minds is better.
answers3: Such an idea should be enforced, but it will never come about.

Schools are government run, and it's own little branch of government
with it's roots in Communism, that is why each individual is taught
to:

*line up to get a drink, to enter or exit a door way.
*To instill in a young ones mind to be lead, not to take the lead.
*To be told to follow, not to want to do so themselves. *Groomed in
being a cog in the big wheel, yet you do none of the turning yourself,
only a tiny slight contribution you make.

So philosophy would eliminate all those years of training that they
filled in the memories of children.

query of while HUMAN existence starts off. Is it at theory, or
quickening, or viability exterior the womb, or at start? till we are
in a position to get consensus in this trouble-free question, the
controversy will rage on. If a fetus is a man or woman, then why isn't
it given a social safety form, a acceptance, etc. earlier it
incredibly is born? in case you opt to assure it all of the rights as
"born" human beings, then you definately've an prolonged highway
merely before you...
answers5: The problem with teaching philosophy in a public school is
simple: it often deals with metaphysical subjects, such as life after
death, etc. Once the focus is off of the physical plane, the topic
becomes religious, or faith-based, and that simply isn't allowed.

It's almost like a "10 commandments of the classroom" re-write, with
the biggest commandment being "THOU SHALT NOT MENTION GOD OR THE
AFTERLIFE IN CLASS."
answers6: I think philosophy would be a great subject in grade school.
When the minds are clear, open, unclouded if you may.

Let the child make up their own minds on the world; do not force them
to believe what you want them too. You wouldn't do that to an adult,
why a child? What's the difference?
answers7: Philosophy is good to study as long as it is not meant to
indoctrinate.

The thing is that studies are always extended, to influence the
mainstream for example the "sales philosophy" etc. this branch would
indoctrinate you into accepting that our economic system is a system
of balance, but in reality we all know that there will never be a
balance between offers and demands, and credit and money flow to
overcome poverty, hunger and famine.

So Esoteric Philosophy I find good but not other pseudo branches.
answers8: I think philosophy would be great in schools. Teaching
religion would be good too. Just as one would teach the different
philosophies, one would need to teach about the different religions.
The problem with church and state comes in when one religion is
promoted over the other, or used as a behavioral code. I don't see a
problem with teaching religion or philosophy as a subject.
answers9: No, Philosophy is the basic learning of every religion.
answers10: I was about to ask what kind of philosophy, i think that
its being taught in school as such ,teachers action, attitude her
philosophy will follow them the rest of there lives ,how she was ,who
she was and what she taught.

Does Philosophy play a role in Goth culture?

answers1: No there is no system of philosophy specific to Goth living.
answers2: Philosophy isn't just "what's the meaning of life" type
things. There are also hard logical problems and such.

I would say philosophy is basically in everything.
answers3: I can see how some parts of goth culture could seem
philosophical because many of the issues in this culture revolve
around pain and meaninglessness and a reaction against the mainstream.
In this way it can be philosophical, however anything take to the
extreme can begin to lose legitimacy.

are there actually any jobs based solely on philosophy?

answers1: They only way you can tie Philosophy with a job is by you
coming up with an amazing theory/philosophy of life area and write a
book and sell it. Other than that your just gonna be like the rest of
philosophy majors and try to teach it. Philosophy is a great subject
because it makes you get into analytical thinking and reflective
instrospective type of thinking. But there is no carreer in there.
Like I said only by writing a book. Plus its real hard to sound
credible if you have a major in philosophy and your in your 20's. Just
like nobody's gonna hire a psychologist/shrink to hear their problems
if the psychologist is young looking and has facebook pictures of them
in beerpong tournament. I have no idea why people keep on "majoring"
in these fields. Stick to math and science fields like engineering
period.Thats only if you want to make money.
answers2: Yes, Taco Bell.
answers3: Not to sure, but you could try searching for philosophy careers?
I did philosophy when i did my diploma of music. it really is adapted
to everything.
answers4: Only in America they have the best accents mate...

western and eastern philosophy?

answers1: EASTERN:
Believe nothing ! Belief is a confession of ignorance !
Therefore do not even believe what even I tell you !
All I can do is to teach you to enlighten yourselves.
Your first duty is to abolish your ignorance,
and only you yourselves can do this.
—Buddha

WESTERN:
If you would be a real seeker after truth,
it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt,
as far as possible, all things. —Descartes

At its root, western philosophy is based on eastern philosophy, but
western philosophy could learn a bit more patience. Eastern philosophy
is at peace with itself. Western philosophy is not.
answers2: I see where you are at. Though I cannot but see we are all
connected. It is like we were arguing about a ''God'' under different
names when there is just ONE all over, superior to any ... :))
Whatever philosophy we'll name, whatever way we shall get, there is
the same point we start our life and end it.
A ''way'', a ''philosophy'', a ''religion'' ... what a small thing - a
life.

LOVE is all we can name as a commune - some way grounded - nominator,
or God-felt inside and/or above us, as you wish.

There is NO OTHER NEED but the ACCEPTANCE, the understanding one of
each other, the understanding of our own self, whatsoever philosophy
..., Religion, colour ... Each of us has a particular-commune path
:)))

Simply, I.
answers3: Eastern philosophy: "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"

Western philosophy: "Whoosh"

I have been studying Eastern philosophy for a few decades, and it
appears to present the idea that "either/or" does not exist. That is,
either I step into traffic and get killed, or I don't, is not part of
the Eastern mystic.

The people who present these ideas, or koans, are not stupid. I think
the essential focus of Eastern philosophy is not that reality is
malleable, but our understanding of it is. Western philosophy focuses
on certainty, derived from proofs and processes, while Eastern
philosophy focuses on the conviction of uncertainty.

Thus, the Eastern philosopher is smug in the wisdom of knowing
limitations, while the Western philosopher is smug in the wisdom of
ignoring limitations.
answers4: Eastern Philosophy incorporates certain spiritual elements,
including patience, acceptance and peace. I feel this gives them a
more pure view of reality. Many eastern philosophers accepted that
they will never "know" everything, but if we accept all, we will not
be at ease. In other words, I find their teachings to be more helpful
and insightful.

Western Philosophy is more just thought, reasoning and questioning.
All of these are great, but most of it feels so limited and
constricted in that they lack many things. Granted they may take a
more practical approach in certain aspects, but overall its usually
more of an uneasy, impatient questioning, which usually results in
ending where you started.
answers5: this is a rhetorical question
thus
propaganda
to understand the root cause of this line of reasoning
you should locate the unstated premise and conclusion
why would western philosophy have something to gain from duality?
answers6: understanding.
answers7: Um, is TM eastern or western?

This debate is so 1972.

The west has been exposed to and absorbing eastern ideas for 200
years. When does it start going the other way?
