HDTV Optical Audio to RCA?

Ronny Dorge: Oh, and my tv model is a toshiba 32E200U if that will help

Rubi Romo: Of course there's a device that converts an optical audio to rca's. It's called an outboard digital to analog converter or DAC. They are not cheap so you are probably better off buying a receiver that has optical inputs. These have a built-in DAC and are much cheaper than buying an outboard unit. You don't have to come out of the tv's optical. Just feed the audio from your source/s to your receiver. Good luck.

Daren Ventrice: Not easily, however there are converters available (although they tend to be somewhat expensive).http://www.hdtvsupply.com/digital-to-rca-audio-con...Alternative options include:A) Connecting the RCA audio output on each device (e.g. set-top box, game console) to your stereo/surround system. You then need to configure those devices to output audio via RCA instead of HDMI or Optical (this option costs nothing, but only works for external components and is li! mited by the number of inputs on your audio system).B) Purchase a Home Theater Receiver / Surround Sound system that can manage all of your HDMI and Optical Audio connections (this option is very expensive)....Show more
