Marita Stadick: When you apply or interview for a paid position, include the volunteering services. The company you are interviewing with can contact the organization to verify your services just as if they would contact a former employer.I would use them as a reference for any amount of time I volunteered because volunteering says something about your character. Jesse Japak: You can ask the question just as you worded it. You can also ask is the a certain number of hrs you are required to work before they provide you with such service. Shame on your present volunteer position for not giving out a reference. Don't be afraid to ask about the reference in the interview after all you are volunteering.Good Luck...Show more
