Iris Shawcroft: Yes.
Glynda Darrin: Physical appeal is a genetic desire for symmetry. Look at someone you think is attractive. Do you see that his/her face is relatively the same on the left as it is on the right. That's the basest form of what's considered beauty. Then - of course - there's environmental factors. If you grew up reading smut mags your entire life, you may think that anorexia is attractive. In historical writings it was well known that large women were attractive because they came from wealth. These things don't directly manifest themselves ("Hi - you're fat; you must be loaded! Wanna go for coffee"), but are secondary factors that affect our decisions....Show more
Verdie Wollen: Yes there is a formula...it has been scientifically proven. Google it.
Weldon Totaro: Beauty, itself, when defined is the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manif! estations as shape, color, sound, a meaningful design or pattern, or something else. Of course, universal beauty, as I understand it, is beauty that is beautiful to all. Of course, all people have different opinions of beauty, so I think that beauty is subjective.
Maynard Phoubandith: Beauty is ALWAYS subjective.
Myesha Zerbe: Objectivity and subjectivity are not absolute and there are degrees of both. A rose is objectively more beautiful than a piece of dogshit to a person but not necessarily to a fly.
Timmy Bustard: and can there be a possiblity of beauty bein' universally subjective?LOL XD
Dorris Homola: There is majority beauty but not universal.
Rona Espalin: It's entirely subjective. To expect me of adopting the same philosophy of beauty as you do and vice versa would be insane.
Giovanni Malool: Its both subjective and universal (as far as all humans share some idea of beauty). Thats because some of it comes from our genetic makeup ! - and some develops as preferences due to both external influe! nces and from the fact that we aren't all genetically identical.Especially with attractiveness to other humans we share a lot of ideas abut what is attractive - like people generelly see symetry as beautiful (like in faces), as well as geometric shapes (in art), and for choosing a partner we suvconciously evaluate stuff like hip-to-waist ratio to determine genetic healthyness.-Stigma...Show more
Rubi Romo: @HoneyBearCub, what did you say yes too? As you can see, there's an 'or' in my question.
Douglass Sarley: it's subjective, but symmetry is sort of a "universal" for humans
