Guy bought car, wants to return it...Help Please?

Jed Mutone: Thank you guys for all of your answers, and it was just a private transaction, there is no warranty or anything like that, because it is a 1993 honda accord, I agree that he might have realized that he paid too much and wanted to return it but it isn't like I had a gun pointed at his head. The only thing that he signed was the pink slip and that was it. Thank you guys so much for your help, you guys really cleared everything up for me.

Kassie Kay: What did it say in the sales contract? Sold, "As is" or did you offer a return guarantee?

Minh Lefrancois: did you cover your *** and write on the bill of sale "as is"?however, you never said anything about a warranty and there is no such thing as an implied warranty during private transactions.try not to be an asshole, just say politely you looked it over and found nothing wrong. you should of had it inspected blah blah blah. maybe offer him a $100 to go towards the leaking radiator and for him to quit c! ontacting you...Show more

Dan Seen: Law in Calfornia is same as many:USED CARS ARE AS IS- it doesnt' matter how long after you buy the car, once you buy it ITS YOURSI dont know where people get the impression that you can return a car if there's a problem. YOU CANT! Lemon Laws only apply to NEW cars. With that said, tell him, it was sold on an as-is basis, and if he takes you to small claims, he;s really wasting his time. because the judge is going to tell him the samet hing.good luck! and next time you sell a car, remember to write in AS IS on the bill of sale, just so you don't have the same headache with people not knowing their rights/...Show more

Brice Greczkowski: Used cars are always sold AS-IS so it's always up to the buyer to hire a mechanic to inspect it. He chose not to so it's his own damn fault. Stop taking his calls. If he sues he will lose 100%.

Dulcie Edis: Unless you attached some kind of warranty to the vehicle, once you completed the tra! nsaction, you're off the hook. The buyer bought the car "as is! " with the full understanding that the car was his. For all you know, in the 2-hours he owned it, his friends, family, or neighbors might have told him he got a bad deal and there really is nothing wrong with the car....Show more

Elva Batie: Did you give him a bill of sale stating as is where is for condition? If so, he owns the car and it's his problem. If not, CA has some strange "Lemon Laws" and it could come down to a court case.

Cassey Hollinghurst: and the car was sold "as is" he even asked me and I just told him that it is sold as is. Thank you guys again.
