Palmira Lochridge: First of all, you should learn HTML and CSS. All the webs are build with them, so you must learn it. Then a bit of javascript and jQuery would be great. After that you can start learning Ruby on rails. There are a lot of great resources online. I tried some of them, and in my opinion, the best are lynda and treehouse. The course "Ruby on rails essential training" from lynda is pretty basic and easy to understand, so it's a good point to start.But you also can start with treehouse. The rails track is super completed, talking about HTML/CSS, javascript and jQuery and of course, ruby on rails. You will build a web like Facebook, so the tutorial is interesant. Romana Stiman: Ruby on Rails is a specific application of the scripting language Ruby. So I assume that even Ruby on Rails for Dummies expects previous knowledge of Ruby itself.So either start with Ruby for Dummies, or another language (usually, starting with Java or Python works best to learn programming).
