Have you wished that you were in regular education instead of special education?

Claude Gloden: hmmm, firstly, state legislation are special related to state checks. i do know in california principally, detailed ed pupils do NOT ought to go the CAHSEE to graduate. hm, for my part, i dont aid mainstreaming and/or inclusive colleges, considering that i believe neither celebration advantages from this. in each circumstances, pupils are placed into common school rooms. granted, a few of them will position larger in the ones enviornments. nevertheless, such a lot is not going to. detailed schooling pupils require extra concentration from the academics, and this disrupts schooling for the leisure of the category. common pupils is probably not accurately taught, given that the instructor could have an excessive amount of of her time committed to at least one or 2 pupils. in the meantime, the detailed schooling scholar additionally calls for any person with advantage of detailed schooling, and such a lot common lecturers shouldn't have this. as a result, the ! detailed ed scholar will nonetheless no longer be getting the concentration he calls for. total, i believe that for the ones detailed schooling pupils who're unbiased, comparable to the ones with studying disabilities, i aid mainstreaming and inclusion for them. nevertheless, self contained school rooms is a well resolution, exceptionally for many who are emotionally/mentally retarded and require extra care. the ones pupils could handiest disrupt the leisure of the category, each in mainstream and inclusive colleges, and make it a lose difficulty....Show more

Imogene Neiswander: I had been in special education since the age of 5. At one point, I wished I was not. But then when I enrolled in an honors government class during high school (my disabilities were in math), I realized my new peers really weren't that 'smart'. They could only walk around saying they were smart. Because I started attending my own IEP meetings when I was 15, I actually was more advanced in gove! rnment policy language than they--or our 'honors' instructor. ! While you can sign yourself out of special education at age 18, I seriously encourage you to think about your future. Because special education was designed so the schools have to provide all students with a quality high school education, what are you then going to do when you are signed out of special ed--if you still do not have a high school diploma? The special education program legally requires the schools to provide resources and training, including individually-tailored curriculum's, to eligible students. It provides the tools to help learn and help earn the high school diploma. And this learning is what opens up employment and other opportunities for a living wage. Many jobs expect you will at least have a high school diploma--otherwise they do not even look at you. Years down the road, none of your peers are going to care you were ever in special ed. But it will be a big deal if you lack a high school diploma because of having exited special education. If you canno! t learn the exact same way as other people once you are out of special education, you will get flunked. That is what will concern other people. including employers They will think that having left the resources able to provide a high school education is what would be stupid.I am very grateful I obtained my high school diploma. I was more concerned with obtaining my quality education than what others thought of me....Show more

Pamela Meno: Once you leave the corrupt K-12 school system in the US, you are free! It's more of a prison sentence without parole!

Vickie Clampett: I don't think other people's fears about what you "might" do, and the fact you have been in special ed. for a long time are valid excuses.I don't know what behaviors you speak of but the school should be providing a Behavior Specialist to work with you no matter what classes you are in.Maybe if you are happier in your placement the behaviors will diminish.I am sure your parents think they are ! doing the best thing for you. Good luck!...Show more
