I heard a rumor about directv not allowing people to use TIVO brand DVRs in 6 months?

Bethanie Menden: All you have to do is upgrade your current receiver with a R10 directv receiver. It is a DVR with integrated TIVO. So you get both in one unit. Plus you don't have to pay the TIVO service. All you pay is an extra $5 a month to directv. Look it up at weaknees.com

Elvin Weichbrodt: Last year Direct TV extended their support contract with TIVO through 2010. Even though they wont sell the tivos, they will continue to support them for 3 more years...hopefully by then they will get their units working...

Brock Anwar: I don't know how DirectTV would prevent people from using Tivos even if they wanted to. Doesn't a Tivo communicate with the DirectTV box using IR? In that case the DirectTV box wouldn't be able to tell if the Tivo or a person with a remote was changing the channel.
