puppy food vs adult dog food?

Enriqueta Steffen: Giving you're puppy adult dog food is not fine, since it has the nutrients and protein that you're puppy needs. Oh and, an active dog doesn't mean you have to give them high in fat foods! You can get low-fat adult dog food with protein in for just the exact price or lower, so don't let you're dogs die of a heart attack because you can't be bothered to look in you're local supermarket for some reasonable low-fat dog food.

Reyes Brunell: It depends on what the "adult" food is as to wether it is appropriate for your pup to eat. I f it is a high quality all-life stages kibble than it is fine for the puppy. If it is nutritionally deficient then it is not good for either dog. Read up on what makes a food a good food and evaluate what you are currently feeding both. If you need further help post what foods you are feeding and we can go from there.

Olin Hallin: Dogs do NOT need puppy food - that's a relatively new thing on the market. And people fed puppies for many decades without it. If your puppy does better on the adult food, and its high quality, by all means leave him on it.Neither one of my last two dogs ever had puppy food. I feed a high quality food - Orijen - and they never needed puppy food....Show more
